Tracey calls on Trudeau for more transparency on trade

Dear Friends,

I'm on my way home from the emergency meeting for the International Trade Committee that happened this afternoon and I wanted to update you on what happened and what is to come.

To recap-

Today- we were only able to get a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Freeland and department officials which will take place on August 14 at 10am in Ottawa.

This is a huge win- if I hadn't sent the letter requesting the meeting- we wouldn't even have this opportunity to find out Canadian priorities.

I tabled a motion at the meeting today calling on the Prime Minister to make good on his word that he would be "more than happy to sit down with opposition parties and discuss the approach we're going to take on negotiating, renegotiating NAFTA in the best interests of all Canadians."

It was unfortunately voted down by the Liberal members of the Committee.

I'll be spending the next couple of weeks getting ready for this very important meeting- and trying to get the PM to meet as he declared he would.

I won't give up on getting a Fair Trade deal in NAFTA!
