Tracey Ramsey, MP (Essex) was elected yesterday by her colleagues as their representative to the NDP Federal Council and as vice-chair of the NDP’s Ontario Caucus.
“Over the past year, our New Democrat team of Ontario MPs has been focused on serving our communities by fighting for good-paying jobs, standing up for equality, and building a fair economy that lifts everyone up, not just the few at the top,” said Ramsey, who previously served as chair of the caucus and will now act as vice-chair.
As NDP Federal Council representative, Ramsey will liaise between caucus and the party in a critical year where the party membership will select a new leader. In addition, Ramsey is a member of the Planning and Priorities Committee, which sets and guides the caucus’ agenda, and she serves as the party’s critic for International Trade.
“With the new Trump administration, people in Essex and across the country are deeply concerned about the Canada-U.S. trade relationship,” said Ramsey. “Canada’s number one priority must be protecting and growing good-paying Canadian jobs. My priority is making sure the Liberal government understands this.”
