Member of Parliament Tracey Ramsey (Essex) is honoured to be joining a Canadian delegation including Veterans, Veterans organizations, the Prime Minister, the Governor General, the Minister of Veterans Affairs, Youth and Parliamentarians from all parties in France to honour the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the ensuing Battle of Normandy.

The legacy of the Battle of Normandy serves as one of Canada’s most significant military engagements of the 20th century. The brave Canadians who served in the Normandy Campaign were among the more than one million men and women who courageously served in the cause of peace and freedom.

The delegation will begin their commemorative journey in Lille, France including an unveiling of a new Canadian monument in Chambois. From there they will attend ceremonies at the Juno Beach Centre, Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery, Canadian Garden, Le Memorial , L’Ancienne Boucherie, Memorial Garden of the Abbaye d’Ardenne, Courseuilles-sur-Mer, and Canada House at Bernieres-sur-Mer.

“It is truly an honour and privilege to have this opportunity to represent our community and country on this delegation. I will be standing with some of the brave soldiers who fought on that day 75 years ago, but keeping in mind and heart those who did not return and now lay to rest in France. D-Day marks a momentous event in Canada’s history, and I know this tour will be unforgettable and emotional for everyone involved. I encourage all Canadians to pause and reflect on how the incredible sacrifices of these brave people have shaped our nation,” says Ramsey.

MP Ramsey will be sharing her visit through her social media platforms which can be followed in the links below:
